Desir du Chateau

 1991 16.3hh Chestnut Approved by Selle Francais, Belgian Warmblood & Warmblood Studbook of Ireland Quidam de Revel x Cor de Chasse x Rantzau xx x Labrador xx

* Sire of the Highest Graded Event Foal in the UK 2009 - Future Coeur de Reine (photo below)

* Sire of multiple International Showjumpers and Eventers

* The Perfect Dual Purpose Sire - 68% Thoroughbred & A/A

* Very closely related to Olympia World Cup Qualifier Winner "Itot du Chateau"

Desir du Chateau combines the genes of one of world's best sires of showjumpers, Quidam de Revel, with one of the very best damlines in France, the Manuela line. This damline has produced over 30 International showjumpers. Desir du Chateau is 16.3hh and 68% thoroughbred and Anglo-Arab, he brings size and a lot of "blood" to his progeny, but also his incredible jump. He is the very best of both worlds and is siring world class showjumpers and eventers. He would be suitable for breeding high quality event horses or as an improving sire on heavier jumping mares.

His own performance

* Desir du Chateau qualified for the French 4-Year-Old Championship but a serious injury prematurely ended his

  competition career and delayed his stud career until he was seven.

His progeny

His first crop of 38 foals was not born until 1999, when he was 8 years old. But what a first crop it was - Nineteen of 38 offspring competed in the French 4-Year-Old Classic Cycle, 23 competed in National showjumping and/or eventing classses, 19 at jumping at National level, 3 qualified for the 6-Year-Old French Showjumping Championship, and 4 have gone on to showjump Internationally in 2006 as 7-year-olds.

From his second crop of foals, born in 2000, 23 are jumping Nationally, 14 have won showjumping competitions, 2 have won eventing competitions, 1 qualified for the 5-Year-Old - Eventing Championship - Mistral de Blondel (photo below) who went on to compete at CCI** level, and one is showjumping internationally - Melba Girl

From his third crop of foals, born in 2001, already 13 are showjumping nationally and 7 are winners.

From Desir's fourth crop of foals, born 2002, Oceano de Tivoli is jumping nationally - as a 4-y-o (2006) jumped 11 rounds without fault out of 12 courses, was a finalist at Fontainebleau, and is classified as "Excellent".

From his fifth crop of foals, born in 2003, the bay Belgian Warmblood gelding Dax van't Dabdijhoeve was the top-priced horse sold at the 2006 Auction Mechelen -- euro 52,000.(photo and web clip below)

In total Desir du Chateau, his dam, his second dam, his third dam, and their daughters have produced over 30 International level showjumpers including the world beater Itot du Chateau!

His dam line has been described as "the ultimate mother line"

Under used by the bulk of breeders because he was unable to fulfil the early potential he showed, he is another hidden gem like Fleetwater Opposition was.
